A variety of
terms are used, sometimes interchangeably, to talk about
corporate social responsibility (CSR): business ethics,
corporate citizenship, corporate accountability,
sustainability.
For many
employees, the face of CSR is employee volunteering,
fundraising, and the full raft of energy efficiency,
recycling, and consumable-reduction initiatives.
We typically find
that organisations often under-communicate some of their
other CSR initiatives such as ethical sourcing, process
reengineering, and employee related investments.
We believe that
effective employee communication must be based on changing
behaviour through telling stories about ‘exemplars’ versus
the fear-based messaging around environmental catastrophe.
