If I was growing
up now I’d probably be diagnosed as hyperactive. I have a
thousand ideas whirring around in my head, I quickly see
patterns, and I quickly connect the dots - outside of the
box!
The last of the
baby boomers, I’ve spent two decades in large multinationals
having a fantastic adventure: managing restructures
alongside Booz Allen Hamilton; growing up with power point;
process designing; operations management; leading teams;
strategy development; strategic & operational human
resources; introducing new technology; IT business analysis;
corporate responsibility; and corporate communications.
People simply
can’t believe that I could successfully navigate through
such a chameleon – eclectic – private and public sector
career; how could they put me in a nice convenient ‘box’!
Through it all I
have kept my sense of adventure, sense of humour, and
entrepreneurial wits. I’ve always said "I’m here for a good
time, not a long time" – people have enjoyed working with me
and have valued my unique ability to spark creativity in
what would otherwise be normal and conservative teams and
projects.
All of this
allows me to quickly add value to pretty much any
organisation in need of creative yet pragmatic ideas and
communication solutions. My advice is quick in coming and on
the button in terms of diagnosis and solutions offered.
I have a unique
depth of understanding regarding the wider organisational
impacts of good change management and communication. I'm an
accredited professional member of the Human Resources
Institute of New Zealand, which offers clients an added
level of comfort; any advice will have the people impacts
and potential risks taken into account.
